My Top 10 Christmas Movies: #3

3. Home Alone

Home Alone is yet another modern Christmas classic. A lot of these movies on the list came out when I was a child and I think that is the point with Christmas movies. Most people remember fondly Christmas movies from their respective generations. Home Alone is the movie which appealed most to the early nineties kid.

Kevin McCallister played by Macaulay Culkin is exactly what each kid of the era viewed himself or herself as: smarter than some adults, misunderstood, and kind. Kevin is a very well written character. Although, I think the best writing involves how the mother is portrayed throughout the movie. Towards the beginning of the movie, she is portrayed how the child would view his mother; however, throughout Home Alone she becomes more of a character who is relatable to the parents, as she will try anything to get home to Kevin.

It is this broad appeal which I think has endured this movie into the hearts of the entire early nineties population.
