During the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, the Muppets had a string of enjoyable movies and this one was no exception. The Muppet Christmas Carol is a very good take on Charles Dickens’ classic story. The movie is funny and serious while containing many great songs which would fit well with anyone’s Christmas music collection. In addition, Michael Caine is a very good Ebenezer Scrooge and belongs to be listed with the best of the actors portraying the miser.
The Muppets who play characters in the movie are all well cast. The character of Bob Cratchit always needs to be very sympathetic and casting Kermit the Frog in the role instantly gains mountains of sympathy. My favorite casting choice would be the Great Gonzo as Charles Dickens. Never have I ever seen the actual Charles Dickens placed in his own story, but they pull it off very well. This movie has been a Christmas standby in my family for years and it is definitely worth checking out for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie.
